This red Bordeaux blend was first released in 1987 and quickly established itself as one of the top South African Wines.
The Grapes are sourced from the oldest, most established vineyards on the Warwick estate. Aromatics include red cherries and jasmine supported by dried herbs. On the palate, red fruit flavours dominate with support of tones of cassis, leather and dried thyme. Grippy, refined, and satisfying. An incredible red wine.
Stan Ratcliffe purchased Warwick on April 1st 1964 after an extensive search for the best ‘terroir’ in the Cape. His wife Norma became increasingly interested in the making of wine and began to study the subject. Soon Norma began producing her own handcrafted wines using the Warwick grapes. Norma Ratcliffe became one of the Cape’s first female winemakers – and one of its most illustrious wine personalities, whose legacy is immortalised in the Warwick 'First Lady' range.
Warwick remains one of the most respected labels from the prestigious Stellenbosch region. The winery is most famous for it's iconic Trilogy red wine blend and world class Estate Cabernet Franc, and were indeed the first South African winery to release a major 100% Cabernet Franc wine.
