Lopez de Heredia, 'Viña Tondonia' Reserva, 2008, Rioja DOCa, Rioja, Spain

A truly iconic wine. One of the top Rioja's and is always a go to favourite for lovers of Rioja or fine wine in general.

This 2007 is ready to drink. Absolutely wonderful balance, finesse, and poise. Subtle dried fruit, vanilla, and blackcurrant notes, intertwined with lovely oak presence, wood shavings, and spice. Fine tannins, soft, smooth, and effortlessly drinkable.

Definitely best to decant this wine for an hour or so before serving. It will continue to improve with another 10 years of ageing in cellar - but it is delicious right now and can be drunk without feeling guilty!

For 144 years, four generations of the López de Heredia family have devoted themselves to producing exceptional and unique wines. Masterpieces which have achieved that which the founder of the company, Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, defined in the late nineteenth century as the "Supreme Rioja".
