Santa Seraffa, Gavi del Comune di Gavi DOCG, 2019, Piemonte, Italy

This is a high quality Gavi wine, from the premium sub-region of Gavi del Comune di Gavi. A pure expression of the style with floral, citrus, and green apple aromas with good weight and texture. Light, refreshing, but with body and finesse. There's an almost creaminess to it while also keeping the Gavi mineral finish. A delightful wine.

The 18 hectare Santa Seraffa estate is situated in the prized Gavi del Comune di Gavi zone which surrounds the town of Gavi itself (rather than the satellite villages). It now belongs to Araldica, one of Gavi's leading producers, who have a 15 year reputation for crafting the highest quality expressions of the indigenous Cortese grape.

Vina Loca notes that we've enjoyed this wine for some years, and unlike much of Gavi style wines, this one can age. We've tried this one six years after the vintage, and surprisingly, it had developed lovely rich tones to it. Not that we are suggesting you cellar this, and Gavi is generally enjoyed young, just a reflection on the quality of the juice.
