Philippe Guérin, 'Abstraction #1', 2019, Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie AOC, Loire, France

A wonderful wine for the money - full of classic saline, citrus, tart apple aromas, and dry finish you expect of good Muscadet. There is some weight and complexity from the lees ageing too. Fantastic with light seafood, mussels, or scallops. Also worth a try with creamy coconut based curries... it just works! It's a great with a vegetable Korma!

Part of the Abstraction range of wines from Philippe Guérin, this wine comes from the dedicated 23 hectares of Muscadet production at the estate, the main wine from Philippe. Relatively small production.

Located in a quiet hamlet north of Vallet, Philippe Guérin is the 5th generation of his family to farm 30 hectares of vines within the communes of Vallet and Goulaine. Of these, 23 hectares are dedicated to the production of Muscadet, with the oldest vines approaching 90 years of age. The rest are a variety of different plots and experiments, like Abstraction 4 Merlot.
