Carménère is a specialty in Chile, considered a signature variety. It's said that many years ago it was made and bottled as 'Merlot', as the grape was growing wild in Merlot plots undetected, and it wasn't until much later after proper testing did Chilean winemakers realise this variety was something totally different to Merlot: what we now know as Carménère.

Odfjell are fully committed to biodynamics with cover crops and beehives populating the vineyards while small Fjord horses work the land. Odfjell produces wonderful wines that few in Chile can match, with their Carignans, which come from rescued 80 year old vines, proving to be of particular note.
