Luigi Baudana, 'Dragon', Langhe Bianco DOC, 2018, Langhe, Italy

A very interesting and enticing white wine blend from the Langhe area of North-west Italy. A blend of Chardonnay, Nascetta, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling brings a uniquely refreshing and characterful wine. Good flower and cur grass aromas, with a savoury palate and there's lovely elegance and raciness coming from the Riesling and Nascetta. Long, refreshing, and very food friendly. It will match so many things due to it's unique versatility.

This small estate has just over four hectares of vineyard, all in the commune of Serralunga d'Alba. Their tiny cellar is situated in the village of Baudana, while their vineyards are primarily in the 'crus' of Baudana and the highly regarded Cerretta. After 30 years running the winery, and without heirs to take over the business, Luigi and Fiorina Baudana took the difficult decision to sell. They sold to G.D. Vajra, who showed great potential in bringing the wine forward. The first vintage was 2009 and they haven't looked back, with Vajra, Luigi, and Fiorina working together to perfect the wines.
