Elegant, fresh, pear and peach aromas. All wrapped up with superb balance and finesse.
This is a Blanc des Blancs so it's 100% Chardonnay, "white of the whites", in French, made only from the white grape Chardonnay. The result of Blanc des Blancs as a style is a fresher, crisper champagne that has more citrus and zip than one with red skin grapes in, which tends to be a bit heavier, complex, and rounded. Some people love the Blanc des Blancs style becuase of it's purity, others like more complexity and weight, it's personal preference.
The house was funded in 1799 by Pierre-Henri Lelarge, and while at first were mainly quality grape growers, then first bottled their wines in 1930. In 1985, Dominique Lelarge took over his family estate and decided to go towards a more sustainable farming approach. The realization of how dangerous the use of pesticide is to nature and mankind was a wake-up call. This started his commitment to reducing the use of any chemical product in the vineyard. The estate is synonymous with quality, and responsibility, with a growing reputation.
