This is a wonderful example of fine Georgian wine and shows you the potential of the country. Bordering on world class red here. Brilliant inky purple colour, dark fruit and prune aromas, plums, velvet like tannins, and flavours of black cherries, plums, and just the faintest touch of sweetness on the finish. Absolutely delicious.
In Georgia this wine is often served with roasted or grilled meats, bean stews, fried onions, aubergines stuffed with walnut paste (a Georgian specialty), slow cooked pork, and pickle trays.
Kakhaber Berishvili works alongside his daughter Ketevah, who joined in 2006, to make mostly traditional top class red wines. They are a small boutique producer in the Khaketi premium region and only produce around 5,000 bottles a year. 'Artanuli' is actually a village in the region and the wine is named after this.
