Donnafugata, 'Sur Sur' Grillo, Sicily, Italy

£13.99

A brilliant straw yellow colour wine, with lovely peach, floral aromas. It's soft, fragrant, and is really well balanced. Good aromatics, but not too much, which keeps it very versatile and fresh.

The name Donnafugata refers to the novel by Tomasi di Lampedusa entitled Il Gattopardo (The Leopard). A name that means “donna in fuga” (woman in flight) and refers to the story of a queen who found refuge in the part of Sicily where the company’s vineyards are located today. The site has been used for wine production since 1851, however Donnafugata as we know it now started in 1983. They are one of the top producers in Sicily and their wines are highly respected. Family run, proud of their history, and use cultivation methods with minimal environmental impact.
