Domaine Bousquet, 'Malbec Organic Reserve', 2019, Tupungato, Mendoza, Argentina

Deliciously drinkable modern Malbec. Fantastic aromas of black fruits, spice, caramel, and chocolate. Lovely smooth tannins and a robust palate. Juicy fig and liquorice notes dance on the tongue. Great finish.

Aged for ten months in solely French oak (rather than American and French mixed), which is generally accepted to deliver a more finessed Malbec.

The Bousquet family originally arrived from Carcassonne, in the South of France and can proudly claim to have four generations of experience in the winemaking tradition. Their first foray to Mendoza was in 1990 with the aim of understanding the unique nature of the climate, soils and topography of this imposing, impressive upland region but it was not until 1997 that the family made their first purchase of land and re-located from France. Their vineyards are more or less entirely organic and produce a range of outstanding pure wines in the high altitude areas of Tupungato.
