A Rioja lovers dream. Full, rich, deep, oaky, structured, and fruity. Lashings of spice, chocolate, black fruit, and toasty vanilla. Smooth, robust, and able to cut through big rich dishes. This is a superb Rioja from a famous Bodega which consistently produces some of the finest Rioja wines.
CVNE (colloquially pronounced 'coonay') is one of the big 5 or 6 Rioja producers in the region. They were founded in 1879 as the Compañía Vinícola del Norte del España (CVNE), in Haro, Rioja by two brothers. Descendants of those brothers are still attached to the winery. In 1940 they were the first to use concrete fermenter tanks in Spain. Today CVNE is recognised as one of the top Rioja producers, a benchmark for quality, and their wines are popular around the world.
