Catena Alta, Malbec, 2017, Mendoza, Argentina

We have run out of stock for this item.

A superb Malbec and up there with some of the finest examples in Argentina. This is THE wine for Malbec fans. Simple as that. Wonderful rich aromas of dark fruit, cassis, touches of earth, wet stone, and bramble. Effortlessly smooth, robust, with fine tannins and hints of cocoa and coffee on the finish. Premium Malbec at at it's best.

Catena Alta is an assemblage of historic rows within the Catena family Estate vineyards. Some of which are the original rows planted in 1902. Made up of 5 blocks of old premium Malbec vines across the original Catena estate vineyards.

Bodega Catena Zapata are one of the world's most admired and respected wineries. Founded in 1902, Catena is known for its pioneering role in resurrecting Malbec and in discovering extreme high altitude terroirs in the Andean foothills of Mendoza. The family’s world famous Adrianna Vineyard at almost 5,000 feet elevation has been called the Grand Cru of South America. Catena is now in the hands in the hands of the current generation Laura Catena, a highly respected figure within the Argentine wine industry.

It's hard to imagine a Argentinian wine being as globally successful as it is without Bodega Catena Zapata. They are that important.
