Tempranillo is a grape which not everyone has heard of, but everyone has heard of the main style of wine it makes... Rioja.

Tempranillo is Spain's number 1 red wine grape and is the main variety used in the wines of Rioja and Ribeira del Duero, and some other areas. It produces full bodied, rich, structured red wines. It is actually quite neutral as a variety, and for this reason, it is nearly always seen in a blend with other black skin grapes to add complexity.
