Sangiovese

Sangiovese is most famous for being the main grape in Chianti, and most Tuscan red wines. Native to the area, it usually produces tangy, fruity, red wines with high acidity and tannins and can be almost crunchy in it's youth.

It's a flexible grape which can be developed into different styles and is now being grown outside Italy, like Australia, where it's having it's own a renaissance of sorts.
