Nero D'Avola

Nero D'Avola is the likely the most famous Sicilian native grape variety. It has grown massively in popularity in the last 10-15 years in the UK, and now you'd be hard pushed to find a good restaurant wine list without one.

The grape generally makes good medium bodied approachable red wines, which in premium versions, can almost be full bodied. It's fruity, ripe, and has a bit more character to it than say, Merlot, which has a similar type of body and feel.
