Israel is not a known wine country, and really, the main producer in the levante region is the Lebanon. However, there is a growing wine scene in Israel starting to take place. The land itself has of course see wine production and trading for thousands of years, but over the centuries, history hasn't always been kind to wine in this area.
Being quite a hot dry country, the wines are pretty full bodied fruit driven, and fairly rich. So the wines grown on hill sites tend to have better balance and restraint due to the cooler night influences.
