Hungary has a long proud winemaking tradition, and yet it is quite domestic. They do have a range of wine styles which are not always popular with the world beyond Hungary - the best known exports are the Tokaji wines which are made from their native Furmint grape and are often very sweet and syrupy. They can be some of the finest sweet wines in the world.

However, in the modern era, dry Furmint styles are growing and being enjoyed outside Hungary alongside the sweet wines. The modern dry style is generally more appealing to most UK tastes and it is a zippy, weighty, textured white wine that matched food beautifully.
